Community Landscape

This page within the neighborhood website will be publishing landscaping guidelines and updates, exterior water conservation tips, along with other neighborhood news and information as it relates to landscaping, gardening, and outdoors to share with our Heritage Ridge neighbors.

Weeds ~ Mowing

Weeds – All weeds in greenbelts, common areas, East side walking trail near train tracks, and drainage channels to be sprayed by end of July. Homeowners are encouraged to pull their weeds adjacent to their fencing that includes these areas, making sure to not leave the pulled weeds behind, but to dispose of them accordingly.

Mowing – Beauty banding of 3’ to be done at the fence lines of all the common backyard and side yard areas of greenbelt and open spaces to be mowed once a month during the Spring/Summer months. The Native Grass will remain to grow between these beauty banding areas. It is important to let the Native Grass grow until it seeds in the fall.

Tree Care

A tremendous thank you to our tree volunteers and leadership that graciously took on the care of over 700+ trees in our neighborhood. The hard work which has been accomplished in this endeavor has been instrumental in the nurturing and maintenance of our overall landscaping needs. We appreciate all those who assisted and donated their time and tools.

Little Library Info

Our neighborhood woodworkers have made great progress and are excited to have them installed and ready for all of our residents to enjoy and be able to "Take a book...Leave a book".

We have libraries located at:

Pocket Park #1 (Wrangell Lane and Canyonlands Street, near the playground)

Pocket Park #2 (Kansas Avenue, between Canyonlands Street and S. 5th Street)

Pool Park (Canyonlands Street and Lene Lane, near the playground)

Watering

The current irrigation system that was installed by the developer is currently being worked on to utilize it efficiently. It is a very intricate system that while can be very useful, does not go without its challenges. The Metro District is also working with Northern Water authorities to optimize the best possible solutions for Heritage Ridge’s irrigation. Town of Berthoud requires that we do not water or run irrigation systems between the hours of 10 a.m. and 6 p.m. If you see common area sprinklers running during this time, please contact Centennial Consulting Group, LLC, (970) 484-0101.

Greenbelt (Native Grass) Guidelines

The greenbelt areas - also called the common areas - contain native grass as detailed in the landscape plan for the district. Click here for details. We continue to work with our landscape vendor to improve the native grass throughout the District. The District has created guidelines regarding greenbelt usage and improvement, click here.

Snow Removal Guidelines

The District is responsible to clear snow from public sidewalks. See the District Maps Here: West of 5th Street or East of 5th Street. Homeowners are responsible for the sidewalk abutting their property. Please click here to read the Town of Berthoud’s snow removal policy.

Xeriscaping

There are many ways to conserve water in the state of Colorado - one of them is to use Xeriscaping in your property in Heritage Ridge. If you are waiting to supply a landscape plan to the Architecture Control Committee, click here for access to that.
